I have now solved the problem of holding the iPad mini in place while recording my instructional videos. I looked at tripod products available on the web, couldn’t find anything that would seem to work at the height and adjustments I wanted and were cost effective (i.e. cheap). But I got some good ideas from looking at them, enough to have a browse around forbidden territory i.e. my husbands workshop! After a bit of explaining, he came up with this idea, and after a few failed attempts, some quick reactions of my part to catch the ipad as it all collapsed, it now works!
The round pole (so I can adjust the height) is stuck into a flat surface on the floor, the square bit of wood has a curve in it (so it holds onto the pole), a clamp, a flat piece of wood to hold the iPad and the good old duct tape holding the wood at an angle (adjustable), and even better, a bit of cotton batting for the iPad to rest on for filming (so the iPad isn’t scratched).
