Donna, who is a key member of the Carols Quilts team, recently created a new bag pattern for us. Donna makes bags and sells them at an annual market and is an expert on bags, so after lots of discussion and deliberation we came up with an easy quilted tote bag pattern and a kit.
We are going to be doing several kits this year, so watch this space, but we thought that a nice friendly kiwi was a good way to start.
I tested this pattern on my Tuesday night quilting group. It is now the favourite bag pattern and the bags are being made in all different colours and variations. As you can see by the selection below, it’s difficult to stop!
So if you haven’t tried making a bag before, have some fun with this one.
The Tote bag kit, with everything included, is $69. This includes the pattern, a 4″ Kiwi Template and all the materials needed. Included is all the quality kiwiana fabric, fusible web, needle punch and Vilene. All you need is thread. And, remember, there will be no charge for delivery as you get free delivery on orders over $60.
If you have your own fabric, the Tote Bag pattern with 4′ Kiwi template is $25.
Check out the Tui template set at $24.
We got carried away with our owls as well. (Sample only)
Our Dragonflies $19 go nicely on a bag as well as on pin cushions and quilts. I stitched them in wool which made them really stand out.
Our May newsletter list prize of a $30 voucher for our products went to Fiona. Congratulations! Forward this newsletter to a friend, so they can join and be in to win too.
I cooked today: I made a quilt sandwich!
(Some days it’s the only cooking in our house!)
